At our October Chapter Luncheon, gain a behind-the-scenes perspective on how NDOT takes roadway projects from concept to final design—and how the agency is refining its estimating practices to better reflect today’s bidding environment. Drawing on 13 years of experience across roadway design and project delivery, Brian Deal, PE, will share practical insights into the challenges, tools, and opportunities shaping this important work.

🚧 Topic: NDOT Roadway Design and the Path to Better Engineer’s Estimates

Join us for an inside look at NDOT Roadway Design and the work our division does for the Department. We’ll start with a brief overview of who we are and how we support project delivery, from concept through final design.

From there, we’ll take a closer look at how NDOT develops project engineer’s estimates today. We’ll discuss how well that process has worked, where it has fallen short, and how our estimates have compared with the bids we’re receiving. We’ll also cover the new processes and tools we’re considering to bring our estimates more in line with the market. Come ready for an open discussion on how to make them more accurate.
